Editing - Adam's Vlog Videos

After we had finished filming everything that we needed to with our actors for our story, it was time to begin the post production process. As Cristina is head of the editing team she allocated who would be editing what. I was allocated to edit both of Adam's vlogs - also which I filmed, which meant I was already very familiar with the scene and how we wanted that shot to look, which was perfect for me.

These are some screen shots of whilst I was editing the footage. I lip synced the sound files with the video files and took the sound off of the original footage.

I then added a sound for the camera clicking on and off when pressed by Adam. I confirmed with Nadir who is in charge of sound that this sound was suitable.

After completing this edit of the original footage and the sound I decided to add some effects to the video.

Firstly I added a camcorder effect which adds a frame and symbols to the image - this is so it looks like it was not filmed on a professional camera, just a camcorder or digital camera Adam has used for his vlog. I chose to have the recording red dot flashing as the camera would have obviously been recording at the time and this makes it more believable to be a vlog.

I also changed the battery level so it was not full up, as after all the time he is away from home and the 5 day struggle etc it is unlikely his camera would still have a full charge. Therefore I did this to make it look more realistic for the audience.

After this I then added a film grain to the image. This dulls down the tone of the footage and gives it a browny colour - which it perfect for this particular scene. It also adds a grain which makes the quality look slightly worse - which is to be expected from Adam's surroundings as well as a lower budget camera or phone is he likely to be using to film this.

I did with this with both the videos as they are at the same location and therefore shows consistency when they are released.

Here are the final videos:
